The journey takes place in Pesé, an area in Panama located in the province of Herrera, where attendees will know the Hacienda San Isidro; and perform the Rum Route.
In the tour, you will know each of the steps that are followed to elaborate on the “Seco Herrerano” and the “Ron Abuelo“; both spirits are made in the Treasury.
The hacienda, which has been a tourist destination since 2007, is located in the center of the Azuero peninsula, in a beautiful valley. Also, over the years, it still retains that natural beauty of the place, its total essence.
Start of Hacienda San Isidro
In 1908 it began with the processing of sugar cane, then began to include the production of spirits. It was all thanks to the Spanish, José Varela Blanco.
Afterward, Varela Hermanos, S.A., was born; and to this day, they keep their traditions as liquor producers intact in Panama.
Without a doubt, it is a leading company in the market, thanks to a production of more than one million boxes each year. In addition, they are present not only in Panama but in more than 35 countries.
A tour of the reeds
The reeds are areas where the cane grows, and there you can observe what the process of extracting the juice from the rod is like. The fermentation of the liquid will also be observed.
Also, in the “Tour del Ron,” you will visit the large wineries where the rum is placed for aging, that is, where it is aged. This process where the rum is aged is done by placing the rum inside oak barrels.

An Unforgettable Tour
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a wooden wagon, which is flattered by two Cebu bulls. (A subspecies of domestic cattle). Then in the cart, you reach the factory to see the grinding phase, mixing tubs, fermentation, and distillation.
